About ten or so years ago, it wasn’t easy to make extra money at home. In fact, most opportunities that promised you could make money from your living room turned out to be scams. They would have you buy a bunch of useless product, and then it would be your responsibility to sell it. The people you sell it to, they would only buy it so they could sell it. It would just keep going like that.
Today, things are different. With the web, there are more than a few ways to make extra cash from your own home, on your own terms, doing whatever you want to do. So, here are just a few ways to do it.
The Online Print Shops
If you’ve got an artistic soul, and a good sense for marketing, you can design your own t-shirts for those online print shop sites and make some fast cash. The thing to keep in mind here is that funny t-shirts and t-shirts that reference recent pop culture memes tend to sell the best. A really cool looking design might sell to the fashionistas out there looking to wear their own piece of pop art, but the ones that everyone buys are the ones that make you chuckle a little bit. The great thing about this is that it’s free to get started.
Viral Videos
There are a lot of video sharing sites out there that will actually share the ad revenue with you, usually fifty fifty. All you need is a camera and a good idea. In fact, you don’t even need the good idea. You can point your camera at your cat until he does something funny, post that online, and you might get a million views in a month if it’s cute enough. So get your camera out and just keep recording until you stumble upon some comic gold (how-to videos tend to get a lot of views, too).
Online Retail
All you need to do to get started here is start an account on an auction site, and then sell some collector’s items you have laying around. Everyone has some collector’s items laying around. Look through your bookshelf for first editions. Got some comic books? See if any of them are considered rarities. Or you could just sell that extra Xbox your former roommate left behind. Then you take the money you earned from your first sales and you use that to browse the garage sales and flea markets, find some cheap stuff, and sell it at a nice little markup online. It’s a fairly smart, safe business plan.
Taking Surveys
There are a lot of sites out there offering surfers money to take shopper’s surveys on the web. Some of them don’t pay cash, but rather, they pay out in gift certificates, but… Who couldn’t use a free dinner at their favorite steak joint now and then? Look around and find one that pays out good rates per survey.
These are just a few ways to make money on the web. We didn’t even scratch the surface. Do some more searching and see what you can come up with, and good luck! Before long, you might even be able to quit your day job.
