Method Start-up Cost Difficulty Skills Needed Weekly Hours Time Before Profit My Overall Rating
Blogging Low - Less than $50 Moderate Website Design - HTML
Marketing - SEO
Writing
10+ Recommended, Can be done in less Long. It can take a year before you see the first dollar. Not always but most of the time. 3 out of 5. It is easy and cheap to start and mostly easy. The returns can be really good but it takes time to build up to where you can make a decent income from your site.
E-Commerce Website Varies - On the low end I would say $500 and can go up to any amount. My recommended for most start-ups is at least $5,000 Hard Website Design -HTML, PHP
Strong Marketing - SEO
Good Business Understanding - Taxes, P&Ls, Budgets
Product Sourcing
10+ Recommended. If you are buying and reselling instead of manufacturing, you could handle 10k plus per day by yourself. Short. If your skills are strong and you have time you can see a good income stream within 3 months. 4 out of 5. I know this is hard and I have had many failed attempts. I would not start this without strong skills in the area. I personally have made 6 figures within the first year of a new site.
Selling on Ebay Varies - Can be done for under $100 Easy Basic Marketing
Basic Business
Product Sourcing
2+ Depending on the amount of inventory and volume your hours will vary. Very Short - You can start receiving money within a week. I have started Ebay ventures and made 10k my first month. 3 out of 5. Ebay is quite an easy start-up and is probably a good place for most to start. The only reason I don't give it a higher rating is because the fees are tough and Ebay controls your entire business. I have seen stores go under because of a few bad feedbacks.
Selling on Amazon Varies - Can be done for under $100 Moderate Basic Marketing
Basic Business
Product Sourcing
2+ Depending on the amount of inventory and volume your hours will vary. Short - You can receive money within the first couple of weeks. 3 out of 5. Amazon is a pretty good place to sell. Competition is strong but if you have the right products people will buy. You can make unlimited money here. The only reason I don't give it higher is because Amazon controls your business. They can ban your account or limit your selling at any time they see fit. It is still a great starting point.
